Welcome to Akwaba North East
A vibrant Ivorian community in Newcastle upon Tyne
"One Community, One Family"

Serving our community since June 2012
Our Mission
To empower and support our members by fostering a close-knit community, providing assistance in times of need, celebrating our culture, and promoting the successful integration of Ivorians in the North East of England.
Our Vision
To be a leading Ivorian diaspora organization in the UK, renowned for its strong sense of community, unwavering solidarity, and commitment to the well-being of its members.
What We Offer
Mutual Support
We stand together through life's happy and challenging moments, providing financial and emotional support. Our mutual aid fund has helped families during bereavements, births, hospitalisations, and other emergencies — because no one should face hardship alone.
Strong Community
A close-knit family of Ivorians and their partners, united by shared heritage and values. From welcoming newcomers to the North East to celebrating milestones together, our members form lasting bonds that go beyond borders.
Regular Meetings
Monthly gatherings on the last Saturday to connect, discuss, and celebrate together. Each meeting is an opportunity to share news, plan community events, and enjoy refreshments in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Cultural Heritage
Preserving and celebrating Ivorian culture while integrating into our local community. From Independence Day festivities and traditional cuisine to passing on our customs to the next generation, we keep our roots alive in the heart of Newcastle.
What Our Members Say
"When my family went through a difficult time, the community rallied around us with incredible generosity. The mutual aid fund made a real difference, and the emotional support was even more valuable."
